355 Information notice about forfeiture decision
If the commissioner decides under section 354(1) to forfeit a thing, the commissioner must as soon as practicable give a person who owned the thing immediately before the forfeiture (the former owner) an information notice about the decision.
The information notice may be given by leaving it at the place where the thing was seized, in a conspicuous position and in a reasonably secure way.
The information notice must state that the former owner may apply for a stay of the decision if the person appeals against the decision.
However, subsections (1) to (3) do not apply if the place where the thing was seized is—
a public place; or
a place where the notice is unlikely to be read by the former owner.
