Electoral Act 1992

An application for registration of a political party is to be made in accordance with this section.

The application must only be made for the registration of a registrable political party.

The application must be made by the secretary of the party.

The application must be made to the commission in a form approved by the commission for the purposes of this section, and must—

state a name for the political party; and

if the political party wishes to use an abbreviation of its name on ballot papers for elections—set out the abbreviation; and

set out the name and address of the person who is to be the political party’s registered officer for the purposes of this Act; and

if the application is for a Queensland parliamentary party—set out the name of 1 member of the party who is a member of the Legislative Assembly; and

if the application is for a party that is not a Queensland parliamentary party—set out the names and addresses of 500 members of the party who are electors; and

be accompanied by a copy of the party’s constitution; and

set out any other prescribed information and be accompanied by a copy of any other prescribed document.
