17 Voltage
(1)
Voltage is the difference in electrical potential measured in volts.
(2)
For alternating current systems, voltage is taken to be the root mean square (RMS) value of the difference.
(3)
Unless otherwise provided, voltage is the nominal voltage between phases of a symmetrical 3-phase system.
(4)
For electricity supplied from a single wire earth return system originating from a symmetrical 3-phase system, voltage is the nominal voltage between phase and earth.
