Offence to place contaminant where serious or material environmental harm may be caused

In force

A person must not cause or allow a contaminant to be placed in a position where it could reasonably be expected to cause serious or material environmental harm.

Maximum penalty—

(a)

if the offence is committed wilfully—4,500 penalty units or 2 years imprisonment; or

(b)

otherwise—1,655 penalty units.
