32D Role of indigenous assessor for a prescribed proceeding
(1)
The role of an indigenous assessor for a prescribed proceeding is to advise the court about matters within the indigenous assessor’s knowledge or experience that are relevant to a question arising in the proceeding.
(2)
The indigenous assessor does not form part of the Land Court for the proceeding.
(3)
It is not necessary for the indigenous assessor to be present for all of the proceeding.
(4)
All advice given under subsection (1) must be disclosed to the parties to the proceeding, and the parties must be given an opportunity to make submissions on the content of the advice.
