Applicant for local registration—show cause event
192 Applicant for local registration—show cause event
This section applies if—
a person is applying for registration as a foreign lawyer under this Act; and
a show cause event in relation to the person happened, whether before or after the commencement of this section, after the person first became an overseas-registered foreign lawyer.
As part of the application, the applicant must give the law society a written statement, as required under a regulation—
about the show cause event; and
explaining why, despite the event, the applicant is a fit and proper person to be a locally registered foreign lawyer.
However, the applicant need not give a statement under subsection (2) if the applicant has previously given the law society a statement under this section, or a notice and statement under section 193, for the event explaining why, despite the event, the applicant is a fit and proper person to be a locally registered foreign lawyer.
