Nature Conservation (Macropod) Conservation Plan 2017

The chief executive must not grant a macropod harvesting licence to a person unless the person—

is an adult; and

holds an approved weapons licence; and

has passed an approved course for the licence; and

has passed an approved shooting test for the licence within the previous year.

Subsection (1)(d) does not apply to a person who applies for a macropod harvesting licence if the person—

held a macropod harvesting licence within the previous year of making the application; and

does not receive a notice from the chief executive under subsection (3) after making the application.

The chief executive may give a notice to an individual stating that the individual is required to take and pass an approved shooting test if the chief executive considers it is appropriate having regard to the following matters—

whether the individual contravened a condition of a harvest period notice in the previous year, including, for example, the way a macropod may be taken;

the number of macropods taken by the individual in the previous year;

any other relevant matter.
