Ombudsman Act 2001

The ombudsman may, on the giving of reasonable notice to the principal officer of an agency, and at a reasonable time—

enter and inspect a place occupied by the agency; and

take into the place the persons, equipment and materials the ombudsman reasonably requires for the investigation; and

take extracts from, or copy in any way, documents located at the place; and

require an officer of the agency at the place to give the ombudsman reasonable help in exercising the powers mentioned in paragraphs (a) to (c).

A person given a requirement under subsection (1)(d) must comply with the requirement unless the person has a reasonable excuse.Maximum penalty for subsection (2)—100 penalty units.
