Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act 1982

the functions conferred on it by or under this Act in relation to offshore petroleum operations;

to promote the occupational health and safety of persons engaged in offshore petroleum operations;

to develop and implement effective monitoring and enforcement strategies to secure compliance by persons with their occupational health and safety obligations under this Act;

to investigate accidents, occurrences and circumstances that affect, or have the potential to affect, the occupational health and safety of persons engaged in offshore petroleum operations; and

to report, as appropriate, to the Minister and the Commonwealth Minister on the investigations mentioned in paragraph (d);

to advise persons, either on its own initiative or on request, on occupational health and safety matters relating to offshore petroleum operations;

to make reports, including recommendations, to the Minister and the Commonwealth Minister on issues relating to the occupational health and safety of persons engaged in offshore petroleum operations;

to cooperate with—

the Minister and State agencies having functions relating to offshore petroleum operations; and

Commonwealth agencies having functions relating to offshore petroleum operations.
