132 Duties of drivers

(1)

A person must not drive a vehicle transporting a placard load if—

(a)

the vehicle is not equipped with an emergency information holder complying with chapter 11.2 of the ADG Code; or

(b)

the required emergency information for the dangerous goods in the load provided by the consignor of the goods, or by the prime contractor for the transport of the goods, is not in the holder.

Maximum penalty—13 penalty units.

(2)

The driver of a vehicle transporting a placard load must keep only the following in the vehicle’s emergency information holder—

(a)

the required emergency information for the dangerous goods in the load;

(b)

the transport documentation for the goods.

Maximum penalty—61/2 penalty units.

(3)

A relevant emergency service officer may ask the driver of a vehicle transporting a placard load to give the required emergency information for the dangerous goods in the load for inspection by the officer.

(4)

The driver must comply with the request, unless the driver has a reasonable excuse.Maximum penalty—13 penalty units.
