Experience requirements for class R open licences
164 Experience requirements for class R open licences
For section 157(b), the person satisfies the experience requirements for a class R open licence if the person satisfies subsection (2) or (4).
For subsection (1), the person must—
hold a class RE learner licence; and
have held, within the period of 5 years before the person applies for the class R open licence, a class RE learner licence for a period of at least—
if the person holds a competency declaration (learner)—90 days; or
otherwise—1 year; and
either—
hold a class C, or heavy vehicle class, O type licence; or
have held, within the period of 5 years before the person applies for the class R open licence, a class C, or heavy vehicle class, O type licence.
However, if the person does not hold a class C, or heavy vehicle class, O type licence, the person does not satisfy subsection (2) if the person—
has been disqualified from holding or obtaining a driver licence; and
has not held an O type licence since the person’s period of disqualification ended; and
has not held a probationary licence, or a non-Queensland driver licence that corresponds to a probationary licence, for a total period of at least 1 year since the person’s period of disqualification ended.
Alternatively for subsection (1), the person must hold a class RE O type licence.
In subsection (2)(b), a reference to a class RE learner licence includes a non-Queensland driver licence that corresponds to a class RE learner licence.
