164 Person may apply for assistance
(1)
The person can not apply, under the repealed legislation, for the payment of an amount mentioned in section 163(1)(a) after the commencement.
(2)
However, the person may apply for assistance.
(3)
The application for assistance must be made—
(a)
if the person was an adult when the relevant event happened—within 3 years after the relevant event; or
(b)
if the person was a child when the relevant event happened—before the person turns 21.
(4)
However, the scheme manager may, under section 54(2), extend the time for making an application for assistance under this section.
(5)
This section applies despite the Acts Interpretation Act 1954, section 20.
