Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011

to encourage, and in particular circumstances to require, persons who are involved in the life cycle of a product to share responsibility for—

ensuring that, for the product, there is effective waste avoidance, reduction, re-use, recycling, recovery or treatment; and

managing the impacts of the product throughout its life cycle, including end-of-use management; and

otherwise—to improve the management of waste that is not a product.
