Power to search vehicles

In force

(1)

This section applies in relation to a vehicle if an individual who is subject to a firearm prohibition order—

(a)

is the registered operator of the vehicle; or

(b)

is driving or riding the vehicle, or is in charge or control of the vehicle; or

(c)

is a passenger in or on the vehicle; or

(d)

ordinarily has access to, or use of, the vehicle.

(2)

A police officer may do the following in relation to the vehicle—

(a)

stop the vehicle;

(b)

detain the vehicle;

(c)

search the vehicle and anything in or on the vehicle for a firearm or firearm related item.

(3)
