Working with Children Check Act 2000

Before giving a notice mentioned in section 175(1)(b) or 176C(1)(b) about the employment or proposed employment of a person, an employer must take reasonable steps to verify the person’s identity.Examples of reasonable steps—

• the employer views the person’s working with children card that includes the person’s photograph

• the employer views the person’s driver licence that includes the person’s photograph

The employer must give the notice in the approved form and in an approved way.
