Reporting suspected risk of abuse of relevant adults
22 Reporting suspected risk of abuse of relevant adults
A person may, in accordance with this section, report to the Adult
Safeguarding Unit a suspicion that a relevant adult is at risk of abuse.
A report under this section is to be made to the Adult Safeguarding
Unit in accordance with any requirements determined by the
Director.
However, a report will be taken not to be a report under this Act if—
the report relates only to alleged abuse or suspected abuse of a relevant adult that occurred before the commencement of this section;
or
the report relates only to alleged abuse in respect of a relevant adult who has died.
To avoid doubt—
nothing in this section requires a person to report a suspicion that a relevant adult has been abused, or may be at risk of abuse;
and
nothing in this section prevents a person from reporting a suspicion that a relevant adult has been abused, or may be at risk of abuse, in any other manner or to any other person or body that the person thinks fit.
