30L Chief Executive must investigate renewal application
On receipt of a renewal application under section 30K the Chief Executive—
must carry out any investigation or inquiry necessary to determine the renewal application; and
may conduct an inspection of the specified premises of the poppy cultivation licence; and
may require that an applicant or any associate of the applicant submit to the Chief Executive a recent police record check of the applicant or any associate of the applicant.
The Chief Executive must provide a copy of a renewal application made under section 30K and any accompanying documents to the
Commissioner of Police.
The Commissioner of Police must—
inquire into and report to the Chief Executive on any matters concerning the application that the Commissioner of Police believes are appropriate or reasonably necessary; and
inquire into and report to the Chief Executive on any matters concerning the renewal application that the Chief Executive requests;
and
within 28 days of receiving the application from the Chief
Executive notify the Chief Executive in writing of the Commissioner of Police's decision to support or oppose the renewal of a licence and provide the reasons for the decision.
If the Chief Executive is notified under subsection (3)(c) that the Commissioner of Police opposes the renewal of a poppy cultivation licence, the Chief Executive must not renew the relevant licence.
