Electoral Act 1985

The registered officer of a registered political party must, at the prescribed times, furnish to the Electoral Commissioner a return as to the party's continued eligibility for registration under this Part in the form prescribed by the regulations.

A return under subsection (1) must be accompanied by any documents required under the regulations.

A return is not required under subsection (1) if the party has been registered for less than 6 months before the return is due to be furnished.

For the purposes of this section, the prescribed times for furnishing a return are:

for a registered political party (other than a parliamentary party)—by

30 September each year; and

for a parliamentary party—at least 30 days before the commencement of the capped expenditure period for each general election.
