71 Power to require disconnection of cathodic protection system
If an authorised officer finds that a cathodic protection system does not comply with, or is being operated contrary to, the regulations, the authorised officer may take reasonable action, or give a direction to the person in charge of the system or the occupier of the place in which the system is situated to take reasonable action, to disconnect the system so as to make it inoperable.
A direction under this section must be given by written notice.
A person to whom a direction is given under this section—
must comply with the direction; and
must not reconnect or permit the reconnection of the electricity supply without the written approval of an authorised officer.
Maximum penalty: $50 000.
Expiation fee:
in the case of an offence against paragraph (b)—$1 000;
in any other case—$315.
