7 Profiteering
The Minister may, by notice published in the Gazette—
fix maximum prices in relation to the sale of specified goods or services during a period of emergency; or
vary or revoke a notice under this section.
A notice under this section—
may fix differential maximum prices that vary according to factors specified in the notice;
may apply to sale generally, or to specified classes of sale;
may apply throughout the State, or in specified parts of the State.
A person who, during a period of emergency, sells goods or services in relation to which a maximum price is in force under this section at a price in excess of that maximum is guilty of an offence.
Maximum penalty: $10 000 or imprisonment for 6 months.
