National Board that decides to investigate a registered health practitioner or student must, as soon as practicable after making the decision, give the practitioner or student written notice about the investigation.

The notice must advise the registered health practitioner or student of the nature of the matter being investigated.

Also, the National Board must, at not less than 3 monthly intervals, give the written notice of the progress of the investigation to—

the registered health practitioner or student; and

if the investigation relates to a notification made about the registered health practitioner or student, the notifier.

However, the National Board need not give the registered health practitioner or student a notice under subsection (1) or (3) if the Board reasonably believes giving the notice may—

seriously prejudice the investigation; or

place at risk a person's health or safety; or

place a person at risk of harassment or intimidation.
