15 Procedures of Suicide Prevention Council
Subject to this Act, a quorum of the Suicide Prevention Council consists of one half the total number of its members (ignoring any fraction resulting from the division) plus 1.
The Suicide Prevention Council must meet at least 6 times in any calendar year.
The presiding member will preside at a meeting of the Suicide
Prevention Council and, in the absence of the presiding member, the members present at a meeting of the Suicide Prevention Council must choose 1 of their number to preside at the meeting.
A decision carried by a majority of the votes cast by members of the Suicide Prevention Council at a meeting is a decision of the Suicide
Prevention Council.
Each member present at a meeting of the Suicide Prevention Council has 1 vote on any question arising for decision and, if the votes are equal, the person presiding at the meeting will have a casting vote.
A telephone or video conference between members will, for the purposes of this section, be taken to be a meeting of the Suicide Prevention
Council at which the participating members are present.
A proposed resolution of the Suicide Prevention Council becomes a valid decision of the Suicide Prevention Council despite the fact that it is not voted on at a meeting of the Suicide Prevention Council if—
notice of the proposed resolution is given to all members in accordance with procedures determined by the Suicide Prevention Council;
and
a majority of the members express their concurrence in the proposed resolution by letter, fax or other written communication setting out the terms of the resolution.
The Suicide Prevention Council must have accurate minutes kept of its meetings.
Subject to this Act and any direction of the Minister, the Suicide
Prevention Council may determine its own procedures.
