5 Meaning of workplace
Subject to this section, a workplace is a place where prescribed work is carried out for a business or undertaking and includes any place where a worker goes, or is likely to be, while undertaking prescribed work.
A reference in this Act to a workplace will be taken to not include a prescribed workplace or a prescribed class of workplace.
In this section—
place includes—
a vehicle, vessel, aircraft or other mobile structure;
and
any waters and any installation on land, on the bed of any waters or floating on any waters;
prescribed work means—
work that requires direct interaction with members of the public (irrespective of whether the interaction is in person or not); or
any other work of a prescribed kind, but does not include work of a kind excluded from this definition by the regulations.
