A reference in this Act to a medical certificate certifying that a person has a non-imminently fatal asbestos-related disease means a certificate, given by a medical specialist, certifying that the medical specialist has examined the person and is of the opinion – that the person has an asbestos-related disease; and that – the person is not reasonably likely to die within 2 years from the date on which the certificate is given; or if the medical specialist is of the opinion that the person is reasonably likely to die within 2 years from the date on which the certificate is given, the asbestos-related disease is not reasonably likely to be a significant factor contributing to the person's death.
