195 Possession of document by Registrar
In this section – certified copy means a copy certified by the Registrar to be a true copy.
If, under this Subdivision, a registration officer has seized a document or the Registrar has been provided with a document in compliance with the requirement of a registration officer – the Registrar may retain the document for so long as is necessary for the purposes of this Act; and the registration officer or Registrar must provide notice, in writing, of that seizure or retention to the owner as soon as reasonably practicable; and on the request of a person or organisation that would be entitled to possession of the document if it were not in the possession of the Registrar, the Registrar must provide the person or organisation with a certified copy of the document as soon as reasonably practicable.
A certified copy of a document referred to in subsection (2) is to be received in all courts and elsewhere as evidence as if it were the original.
