A proponent of a major project must provide to the Panel a major project impact statement in relation to the major project before the end of – the period of 12 months from the day on which the proponent receives under section 60ZQ(a) a copy of the assessment criteria; or another period determined by written agreement between the Panel and the proponent; or the period extended under subsection (2) – whichever period last expires.

The Panel, by notice to a proponent, may extend the period in which the proponent must provide a major project impact statement to the Panel.

The Panel must notify the Minister if a proponent has failed to comply with subsection (1).

The Panel, as soon as practicable, and in any case not more than 7 days after receiving under subsection (1) a major project impact statement in relation to a major project, must provide a copy of the statement to each participating regulator.
