Legal Profession Act 2007

In this Part –

corporation means – a company within the meaning of the Corporations Act 2001 of the Commonwealth; or any other body corporate, or body corporate of a kind, prescribed by the regulations;

director means – in relation to a company within the meaning of the Corporations Act 2001 of the Commonwealth, a director as defined in section 9 of that Act; or in relation to any other body corporate, or body corporate of a kind, prescribed by the regulations, a person specified or described in the regulations;

legal practitioner director means a director of an incorporated legal practice who is an Australian legal practitioner holding an unrestricted practising certificate;

legal practitioner partner means a partner of a multi-disciplinary partnership who is an Australian legal practitioner holding an unrestricted practising certificate;

officer means – in relation to a company within the meaning of the Corporations Act 2001 of the Commonwealth, an officer as defined in section 9 of that Act; or in relation to any other body corporate, or body corporate of a kind prescribed by the regulations, a person specified or described in the regulations;

professional obligations of an Australian legal practitioner includes – duties to the Supreme Court; and obligations in connection with conflicts of interest; and duties to clients, including disclosure; and ethical rules required to be observed by the practitioner;

related body corporate means – in relation to a company within the meaning of the Corporations Act 2001 of the Commonwealth, a related body corporate within the meaning of section 50 of that Act; or in relation to any other body corporate, or body corporate of a kind, prescribed by the regulations, a person specified or described in the regulations.
