The general manager may arrange for an impounded animal to be destroyed if, in the opinion of a qualified veterinary surgeon, the animal is– seriously diseased; or so injured or disabled as to be apparently in continual pain.

If an animal is destroyed under subsection (1) within 14 days after its impounding, the general manager must notify the owner of the animal as soon as possible if the owner can be ascertained or found.
