Mineral Resources Development Act 1995

An application for a licence is pending from the day on which it is lodged until whichever of the following happens first:the application is granted; the application is refused; the application lapses; the application is withdrawn.

An application for a licence lapses – 12 months after it is lodged, if it is not determined or withdrawn by that time; or at a later date fixed by the Director, if – the failure to determine the application was not caused by a default of the applicant; or there is, in the opinion of the Director, a sufficient reason for fixing a later date.
