Supreme Court Rules 2000

If a counterclaim is established as a defence against the plaintiff's claim and the balance is in favour of the defendant, the Court or a judge may –

give judgment for the plaintiff on the claim and the costs of the claim, and for the defendant on the counterclaim and the costs of the counterclaim; or give judgment for the defendant for the balance and costs; or otherwise adjudge to the parties any relief as they may be entitled to on the merits of the case.
