In this Part –

claim includes a counterclaim and a cross-application;

contribution claim means a claim to recover contribution from, or indemnity against, any person;

defendant includes – a respondent to an originating application; and a defendant by counterclaim; and a respondent by cross-application;

plaintiff includes – an applicant by originating application; and a defendant who has filed and served a counterclaim; and a respondent who has filed and served a cross-application.
