3 Interpretation

In this Act, unless the contrary intention appears –

commencement day means the day on which this Act is taken to have commenced;

dispose includes the following:sell, barter or exchange; deal in or agree to sell; offer for sale; supply for sale, or dispose of, in expectation of receiving payment, or consideration, for the ownership of the land; receive for sale; dispose of by way of raffle, lottery or other game of chance; offer as a gift, prize or reward; give away for any purpose; lease for a term of not less than 99 years;

University has the same meaning as in the University of Tasmania Act 1992;

University land has the same meaning as in the University of Tasmania Act 1992;

vested land means – the land specified in Schedule 1 that is owned by the University on the commencement day; and such land as is prescribed as vested land for the purposes of this Act.
