Victims of Crime Compensation Act 1994

In this Act, unless the contrary intention appears –

compensation levy means a levy that a person convicted of a serious offence must pay to the Crown pursuant to section 5;

Director, MPES means the Director, Monetary Penalties Enforcement Service appointed under section 8 of the Monetary Penalties Enforcement Act 2005;

serious offence means any of the following offences:an offence under the Criminal Code; an offence under the Firearms Act 1996; an offence under the Misuse of Drugs Act 2001 or Poisons Act 1971; an offence under section 34B, 35, 36, 37(1), 37B or 37C of the Police Offences Act 1935; an offence under the Road Safety (Alcohol and Drugs) Act 1970; an offence under the Marine Safety (Misuse of Alcohol) Act 2006; an offence under – section 32(1) or (2) of the Traffic Act 1925; or section 13(1) of the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999; a prescribed offence.
