Witness Protection Act 2000
1. Section 3 is amended as follows:
by omitting "a register kept under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act 1895;" from the definition of register of births and substituting "the Register maintained under Part 7 of the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1999;";
by omitting "of Marriages kept under the Marriages Registration Act 1962" from the definition of register of marriages and substituting "maintained under Part 7 of the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1999";
by omitting "Registrar-General appointed under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act 1895" from the definition of Registrar and substituting "Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages".
2. Section 7(2) is amended by omitting "Section 42 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act 1895" and substituting "Section 54 of the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1999".
3. Section 12 is amended by omitting subsection (1) and substituting the following subsection:
An entry made in the register of births or register of marriages under this Act has effect as if it were a valid entry made under the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1999.
4. Section 15(1) is amended by inserting after paragraph (b) the following paragraph:
a person appointed pursuant to section 6 of the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1999; or
5. Section 17 is amended by omitting "Sections 36 and 36A of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act 1895 and section 12 of the Marriages Registration Act 1962" and substituting "Part 4 and section 42(3) of the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1999".
The amendments effected by Section 32 and this Schedule have been incorporated into the authorised version of the Witness Protection Act 2000.
