17B Information gathering powers
In order to carry out any of its functions under this Act, the Board may give a person a notice in writing requiring the person to provide information or documents in the custody or control of the person to the Board or a person appointed under section 18B (an appointed person)—
if the Board has reasonable grounds to suspect that an architect has contravened a provision of this Act or the regulations; or
to determine whether this Act or the regulations have been complied with; or
to assist in the enforcement of any standards of professional conduct and practice for architects; or
to assist the Board or an appointed person in making a decision under section 18.
For the purposes of subsection (1)(d), the Board or the appointed person may provide the architect concerned with details of the matter that is the subject of a determination to be made under section 18.
If any documents are produced to the Board or an appointed person under this section, the Board or the appointed person may make copies of or take extracts from the documents and retain possession of those copies and extracts.
