10H Power to search vehicles

S. 10H(1) amended by Nos 37/2014 s. 10(Sch. item 28.10), No. 45/2017 s. 8(1).

(1)

A police officer or a protective services officer on duty at a designated place may, without a warrant, stop and search a vehicle, and anything in or on the vehicle, for weapons if—

(a)

the vehicle is in a public place that is within a designated area; and

(b)

there is a person in or on the vehicle.

A police officer or protective services officer may detain a vehicle for so long as is reasonably necessary to conduct a search under this section.
