5.3A.5 Secretary must allocate or verify Victorian student number

The Secretary must allocate a Victorian student number to a student—
on receiving an application from an education or training provider under section 5.3A.3(1)(a) relating to the enrolment of the student; or
on receiving an application from the Authority under section 5.3A.3(2)(a) relating to the registration of the student for home schooling.
Subsection (1) does not apply if the Secretary has previously allocated a Victorian student number to the student.
The Secretary must verify the Victorian student number previously allocated to a student on receiving an application from an education or training provider under section 5.3A.3(1)(b) or from the Authority under section 5.3A.3(2)(b) in relation to the student.
