Funerals Act 2006

If money is paid to a funeral provider in respect of a pre-paid funeral contract by or on behalf of a party to that contract, the funeral provider must ensure that a receipt complying with subsection (2) is given to the person who made the payment—

without delay, if the payment is made in cash; and

before the end of the third business day after the payment is received if—

the money is paid otherwise than in cash; and

the person requested a receipt at the time of making the payment.

A receipt must state—

particulars sufficient to identify the person who made the payment; and

the benefit to be provided under the contract; and

the date of receipt of the money; and

the amount paid.
