72 Compliance with prescribed standards and requirements for work on gas installation
A person carrying out gasfitting work must ensure that that work complies with—
the prescribed standards and requirements in relation to that work; or

the standards determined by Energy Safe Victoria under the regulations in relation to that work.
- In the case of a natural person, 40 penalty units;
In the case of a body corporate, 200 penalty units.
A person carrying out gasfitting work on an appliance or gas installation must ensure that the appliance or gas installation complies with—
the prescribed standards and requirements in relation to that appliance or gas installation; or

the standards determined by Energy Safe Victoria under the regulations in relation to that work.
- In the case of a natural person, 40 penalty units;
In the case of a body corporate, 200 penalty units.

A person may apply to Energy Safe Victoria in accordance with the regulations for an exemption from all or any of the standards or requirements referred to in this section.

Energy Safe Victoria may grant the exemption if it is satisfied that—
compliance with the standard or requirement does not warrant the cost of compliance; and
the degree of safety attained by other means is acceptable.
An exemption may be granted on such conditions as are specified in the exemption.

A person to whom an exemption applies must comply with any conditions specified in the exemption.
Penalty: In the case of a natural person, 240 penalty units;
In the case of a body corporate, 1200 penalty units.
