39 Protection of participants
A commissioner has, in respect of the performance of the commissioner's functions as commissioner, the same protection and immunity as a judge of the Supreme Court has in the performance of the judge's duties as judge.
A member of staff of a Royal Commission has, in the performance of the person's functions in the Royal Commission's inquiry, the same protection and immunity as a judge of the Supreme Court has in the performance of the judge's duties as judge.
A person legally representing another person in a Royal Commission's inquiry has the same protection and immunity as an Australian legal practitioner has in representing a party in proceedings in the Supreme Court.
A person who gives information or evidence, or produces a document or other thing, to a Royal Commission has the same protection and immunity as a witness has in proceedings in the Supreme Court.
