Purpose

In force

The purpose of this Act is—

S. 1(a) amended by No. 74/2000 s. 3(Sch. 1 item 68).

(a)

to validate, in accordance with the Native Title Act 1993 of the Commonwealth, past acts that are invalid because of the existence of native title;

(b)

to provide for compensation rights for the holders of native title which has been affected by past acts attributable to the State;

(c)

to confirm certain existing rights.
