153 The panel list
The Minister must establish a panel list of eligible persons from which members of a Councillor Conduct Panel must be selected.
The Minister may appoint as many eligible persons to the panel list as the Minister considers appropriate.
A person is eligible for appointment to the panel list if the person—
is an Australian lawyer who has been admitted to the legal profession for at least 5 years; or
has any other experience the Minister considers relevant to the position.
Note
See also section 156(3) which requires at least one person selected to form a Councillor Conduct Panel to be an eligible person in accordance with subsection (3)(a).
A member of the panel list may resign by notice in writing to the Minister.
The Minister may remove a member of the panel list if the Minister considers that the person is no longer a suitable person to sit on a Councillor Conduct Panel.
The Public Administration Act 2004 does not apply to a member of the panel list.
