On receiving a notice of an appointment under section 245 or an application for enrolment under section 242 or 244, the Chief Executive Officer must enrol the person unless the Chief Executive Officer believes that the person is not entitled to be enrolled.

If the Chief Executive Officer believes the person is not entitled to be enrolled, the Chief Executive Officer must—

refuse to enrol the person; and

advise the person who submitted the notice of appointment or application for enrolment of the refusal in writing and give the person the reason for the refusal.

The Chief Executive Officer may, either orally or in writing, request any person or corporation to provide information to enable the Chief Executive Officer to determine the eligibility of a person to be enrolled.

If a request under subsection (3) is made in writing, the Chief Executive Officer may require the information to be given in writing and signed by the person giving the information.
