244 Department surveys
(1)
The Minister may authorise a person employed in, or acting on behalf of, the Department to enter any land to carry out petroleum exploration.

(2)
Part 8 (other than section 128) applies to any petroleum exploration operation under subsection (1)—
(a)
as if a reference in that Part to an authority holder or holder of an authority were a reference to the Department; and
(b)
as if a reference in that Part to the carrying out of a petroleum operation were a reference to the carrying out of petroleum exploration.
