Public Prosecutions Act 1994

The functions of the Office of Public Prosecutions are—

to prepare and conduct effectively, economically and efficiently on behalf of the Director—

any proceeding or other matter referred to in section 22(1);

any other proceeding or matter in which the Director is involved;

to provide for the appearance of members of staff of the Office of Public Prosecutions in proceedings on behalf of the Director in accordance with guidelines established by the Director's Committee under section 45A(1)(c).

In the performance of the functions of the Office of Public Prosecutions, members of staff of the Office must have regard to the need to ensure that the prosecutorial system gives appropriate consideration to the concerns of the victims of crime.
