Rail Management Act 1996

The Head, Transport for Victoria must prepare a statement for every declared rail network that—

describes the proposed level of access that may be provided by the access provider to access seekers; and

provides information on the number of train paths for the provision of freight services; and

specifies railway track standards for the network.

In preparing a Statement of Freight Network Capability, the Head, Transport for Victoria must—

have regard to the Government's rail freight policies and programs; and

consult with the Minister.

The Head, Transport for Victoria must give a copy of a Statement of Freight Network Capability to—

the Minister; and

the Secretary.

After the Secretary receives a copy of a Statement of Freight Network Capability under subsection (3)(b), the Secretary must—

make a copy of the Statement of Freight Network Capability available for inspection free of charge at the principal office of the Department; and

publish the Statement of Freight Network Capability on the Department's Internet site.
