Relationships Act 2008

The Registrar may, on application, search the Relationships Register for an entry about a particular registered relationship.

The applicant must—

state the reason for the applicant's interest in the subject-matter of the search; and

pay the prescribed fee.

The Registrar may reject the application if the applicant does not show an adequate reason for wanting the information to which the application relates.

In deciding whether an applicant has an adequate reason for wanting information, the Registrar must have regard to—

the relationship (if any) between the applicant and the persons to whom the information relates; and

the age of the entry; and

the contents of the entry; and

any other relevant factors.
