9 Waiting period
(1)
A waiting period is a period of—
(a)
for a conviction of a child or young offender—5 years; or
(b)
for a conviction of any other person—10 years.
(2)
For the purposes of this section, the waiting period for a conviction for an offence against a foreign law is the waiting period specified in subsection (1) for a conviction for the offence under the law of Victoria that corresponds, or most closely corresponds, to that conviction.
