Status of Children Act 1974

A deceased person referred to in section 37, 38, 39 or 39A—

is to be treated in law as a parent of the child for the purpose referred to in that section; but

is not to be treated in law as a parent of the child for any other purpose.

To avoid doubt, this section does not apply in relation to a will executed by the deceased that expressly refers to a child born as a result of a procedure referred to in section 37, 38, 39 or 39A.
