Objectives

In force

The objectives of these Regulations are—

(a)

to provide for the long-term protection of marine mammals by—

(i)

prescribing minimum approach distances for whales and seals; and

(ii)

prohibiting or regulating activities in the vicinity of whales and seals; and

(iii)

prescribing conditions for whale watching tour permits, whale swim tour permits and seal tour permits; and

(b)

to prescribe the fees payable for the issue of whale watching tour permits, whale swim tour permits and seal tour permits.
